MGA Entertainment, a consumer entertainment products company, is searching for a Vice President Controller to join our team!
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Vice President, Controller will plan, organize and direct the activities of General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cost Accounting, International Accounting, Cash Management, and Consolidation. He/she will be held responsible for the integration of recent and future acquisitions. Specific responsibilities for the Vice President, Controller will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Oversee and direct all monthly, quarterly and year-end closings including the year-end audit.
- Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements for MGA and all international companies with multiple levels of consolidation, internal reporting and external reporting to financial institutions.
- Direct execution of accounting and system implementation for European, Mexican and Canadian distribution network.
- Implement internal controls and processes to insure the accuracy of financial information.
- Ensure that all established policies, rules, regulations and agreements are followed.
- Ensure that all department processes and procedures are appropriately documented and executed.
- Define and recommend departmental objectives, develop short term and long range plans and projects.
- Provide various levels of management with accurate and timely information necessary to make strategic and operating decisions.
- Evaluate existing and new accounting rules and recommend appropriate actions and/or procedures.
- Perform monthly and quarterly covenant calculation and report to bank.
- Assess and propose systems enhancements and drive process improvement. Actively participate in and/or drive system projects where needed.
- Develop strategy for integrating finance departments as a result of the companys merger and acquisition and business development activities.

| Experience Required: |
The successful candidate for the Vice President, Controller role will possess sound business judgment, a high sense of urgency, strength of conviction, a level head, and a desire to work closely as a partner with the other senior members of the companys management team. He/she must thrive in a dynamic environment and be a natural leader capable of motivating and driving a team. He/She will possess an exceptionally strong results orientation and bias to action.
Candidates considered for this position will have a minimum of ten years of progressive experience. They must have demonstrated a strong understanding of financial reporting and previous public accounting experience, preferably at a Big Four firm. The successful candidate must possess a strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, etc. Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley is highly desirable.
The Vice President, Controller will be a collaborative person and an effective team player. This executive must have exemplary problem solving and analytical skills and must be an objective, fact-based decision maker. He/She will have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and will be able to convey confidence at all management levels.
The successful candidate must possess tremendous drive, energy, a high sense of urgency and a strong work ethic. Maturity, leadership, open communication and outstanding interpersonal skills, along with integrity, will help to establish the credibility and trust that this executive must develop in order to be truly effective in a dynamic environment. The interest, desire, and ability to drive transformational change will serve this individual well, as will a high degree of energy and personal influence.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
A Bachelors degree in accounting or finance and a CPA are required. A MBA is highly desirable. |
